Chrissy Teigen Reveals She’s Lost the Ability To Do One Thing Since Having Baby Esti: ‘How Do I Get It Back?'
Pregnancy is weird. I never had seasonal allergies in my life until I got pregnant with my son seven years ago, and I still have them today. Pregnancy can also make your feet grow and cause weird hair changes postpartum. Chrissy Teigen recently revealed one unusual thing she can no longer do after giving birth to her daughter Esti 16 months ago, and I feel for her.
The mom of four revealed that her spicy food tolerance has decreased since giving birth, and she is not happy about it.

“Whoo, whoo,” the Chrissy & Dave Dine Out star says as she blows out air to try to cool off her mouth in a video on her Instagram story on Wednesday. (PEOPLE has screenshots HERE.) She’s sitting on the couch eating a bagel, and she tells the camera: “At first I had the garlic cream cheese and it was quite wonderful. Now I’m doing a jalapeno cream cheese.”
“You guys, I am Thai, we eat the hottest food in the world,” she continues. “But since [having] Esti, I can’t take spice as much anymore. I still do it, but my body is rejecting it.”
“How do I get it back?” she asks.

Many research has found that gradually increasing the level of spice in your food can build up a tolerance, so it could be that Teigen stopped eating spicy food for a while during pregnancy and the postpartum period, and now she has to build up the tolerance again. Or it could be just one of those weird pregnancy and childbirth things that we never fully understand.
The Cravings author gave birth to Esti in Jan. 2023. She is also mom to son Wren, born via surrogate, who turns 1 this month, son Miles, 6, and daughter Luna, 8, with husband John Legend. On Tuesday, she joined Aura’s inaugural Digital Parenthood Summit in New York, Teigen shared her feelings on social media use with her kids. She revealed that her and Legend have “a tight timeframe” for iPad usage. “Maybe an hour on the weekends,” she explained.
She’s also not happy about the inappropriate ads seen on YouTube. “Who am I going to call [to complain]?” she asked, adding, “It makes me uncomfortable.”
Teigen also revealed her ideal timeline to allow her children to have social media: “After high school — that’s my absolute dream,” she said. “Unless there are more rules and regulations in place, I would prefer for them to not be on social. I want them to be safe and happy and flourishing as kids.”
