Church Lady returns to interview Donald Trump, Ted Cruz on SNL
Well, isn't that special?
On Saturday's episode of Saturday Night Live, Dana Carvey returned to Studio 8H to reprise his famed Church Lady character with help from Ted Cruz (Taran Killam) and Donald Trump (Darrell Hammond).
First taking time out to mock some of the celebrity outfits from last week's Met Gala (on Madonna: "Her fanny's just hanging out"), Church Lady then shifted to politics and an interview with Killam's Cruz. After introducing the former Republican candidate as "Satan," the pair discussed his lost campaign before Cruz revealed his next plans were to turn evil. "I've been told to go to hell so many times, I think it's time to finally check it out," Killam's Cruz said before maniacally laughing.
Hammond's Trump was up next. He first quoted from the Bible ("Love thy neighbor as thy self, and like a good neighbor, State Farm is there") and introduced his family (including a model who was around for her "great energy"), before finally coming face to face with Cruz's new demon form.
"You're the first guy who got possessed and looks better," Hammond's Trump cracked to demon Cruz.
"You're such a jerk, Donald. I'm going back to hell, they're nicer there," replied the demon.
