Classic rock titans atop OC BikeFest slate lead lively week on beach stages

Beach music venues will offer plenty of live music in the days ahead, and thousands of people have already rolled into Delmarva for one of the biggest annual events of the season.

In Ocean City, the 2024 edition of the annual OC BikeFest event is set to kick off at the Inlet on Wednesday, Sept. 11, and include a free headlining concert by hard-rock quintet Buckcherry at 9:30 p.m. that day. Nothing More (5:30 p.m.), Sevendust (7:30 p.m.) and Theory Of A Deadman (9:30 p.m.) are scheduled to bring the noise Thursday, Sept. 12 ($90).

Tesla (7:30 p.m.) and Ted Nugent (9:30 p.m.) will keep the rock rolling at the festival Friday, Sept. 13 ($90). Co-headliners Cheap Trick (7:30 p.m.) and Styx (9:30 p.m.) will bring their respective catalogs of classic-rock hits to the Inlet stage Saturday, Sept. 14 ($90). There will also be various regional acts entertaining during the afternoon and early evening each day.

Reggae and much more on tap at Ocean City's Crawl Street Tavern

Also in downtown Ocean City, the Crawl Street Tavern will host a free concert by New Jersey-based reggae quartet LNJ Sessions at 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12. Crawl Street has tickets on sale for upcoming concerts by two national singer-songwriters — Stephen Kellogg on Thursday, Sept. 26 ($39), and Rusted Root frontman Michael Glabicki on Thursday, Oct. 3 ($39).

Bottle & Cork making end of summer a party zone with free concerts

In Dewey Beach, fans of the legendary Bottle & Cork nightclub will be pleased to learn that its last few weeks of the season will include a pair of free concerts. Next week will find the Bayside Tigers presenting its Saved by the ‘90s revue at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20. The end of the month will see a freebie by country star Chase Wright at 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, which will no doubt include hits such as “Why Should We,” “Hurt No More” and “Why Can’t It Be Over.”

Dance the night away, enjoy '90s country music tribute at Rusty Rudder

The Cork’s nearby sister business, the Rusty Rudder, also has a pair of free concerts on tap.

The traveling DJ dance party known as Gimme Gimme Disco will return to Dewey this week to help the crowd shake a tail feather again at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13. The Nashville Nights Band will bring its tribute to ‘90s country to the stage at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. The Rudder has also placed tickets on sale for an 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 concert featuring the young country singer Avery Anna, whose TikTok stardom led to her current national record deal ($20).

Enjoy Blues & Brews at upcoming Lewes music festival

In Lewes, the promoters of the seasonal Rocking the Docks concert series on the grounds of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry have placed tickets on sale for a festival next month called Lewes Blues & Brews ($55). It will take place rain or shine at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 and feature four bands — the Kelly Bell Band, Lower Case Blues, Sweet Leda and Skribe ($55). Children 12 and younger can attend for free.
