Cleveland Browns’ David Njoku Added to Injury Report After Burn Injuries in Household Accident
The NFL star's agent, Malki Kawa, said the tight end is "OK" following the incident on Friday night
David Njoku was added to the Cleveland Browns' injury report ahead of Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens.
The tight end, 27, was listed as questionable on the report "after sustaining burn injuries to his face and arm during a household accident," according to an update on the team's website on Saturday.
The injuries occurred while Njoku was attempting to light a fire pit in his backyard on Friday night, ESPN reported.
His agent, Malki Kawa, shared a brief update about the NFL star on X (formerly known as Twitter) Saturday as he acknowledged the outpouring of concern and support for his client.
"Thank you everyone for reaching out, but David Njoku is ok, thank God," he wrote.

With Njoku's status uncertain, tight end Zaire Mitchell-Paden was activated off the Browns' practice squad to replace Njoku, should he be unable to take the field, per the team's update.

However, Njoku hinted in a post on X Saturday afternoon that he would be fit to play on Sunday.
"The flesh is weak. See u tomorrow #DawgPound," he wrote, referencing the team's nickname.
Njoku, a 2017 draft pick, has had a strong season so far, with 10 catches for 92 yards. He's coming off a career high in 2022 with 58 receptions for 628 yards and four touchdowns.
Earlier this week, coach Kevin Stefanski said Njoku has been a key contributor through the season's first three games.
“He’s made a huge impact for us already,” Stefanski said, according to the Associated Press. “He’s very close to why we’re having success. He gets a ton of attention from defenses in the pass game. He does a great job competing in the run game."
“I can think back to a few plays in the last few weeks that are only having success because he’s at the point of attack. So he’s a very, very complete tight end,” he added.
The Browns are scheduled to play the Ravens at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday at the Cleveland Browns Stadium.
