Cole Hauser Is Treating Military Spouses to Free Coffee Care Packages for Mother's Day (Exclusive)

Hauser's Free Rein Coffee is giving back to the military community

Cole Hauser is sending some love to the military spouses who "hold down the fort" at home this Mother's Day.

The Yellowstone actor tells PEOPLE that his brand, Free Rein Coffee, is giving back to the spouses of those enlisted in the armed forces by offering free care packages to them ahead of moms biggest day of the year (May 12).

"I just think it's great to be able to acknowledge these wonderful women that hold down the fort, literally, at home," he says.

Free Rein partnered with Squared Away, a platform empowering military spouses to build meaningful careers, on the initiative. Together, the companies are looking to donate 1,000 bags of coffee.

"These men go overseas for these deployments, eight months, nine months, sometimes even longer, and [their spouses are] holding down the fort," he says.

The father of three is careful not to compare the seriousness of the military to his own job — but says his wife Cynthia Daniel can relate in some ways while he is away shooting Yellowstone.

"Cynthia is at home while I'm six months in Montana and she's taking care of the kids, which if you've ever stuck around and you have kids and played Mr. Mom, which I have, that s--- ain't easy. There's a lot of emotional stuff going on," he says.

The actor also recalls pleasant memories of his own mother, a "crazy, beautiful human," who helped inspire his generosity towards mothers nationwide. "She took me on so many great adventures," he says.

Hauser's affinity for supporting members of the armed forces and their families has continued for years. The star also champions the Special Operation Warrior Foundation, which has helped "almost 1400 kids through school," he says. "Their family, their education is taken care of, and that's basically from cradle... all the way to college."

Active military members looking to get in on the free Free Rein goodies for their spouses can head to the new Free Rein website, verify their military ID and once approved, select a personalized message and coffee to send to their significant other.

Additionally, any purchases of $50 or more on Free Rein’s online shop from April 29 until May 12 will automatically donate a bag of coffee to a military spouse through this partnership.

Hauser notes he's "so proud" of what Free Rein is doing with this initiative, but wants to continue to expand beyond this. "I feel like there's so much more to do out there. We were just scratching the surface when it comes to the vision of Free Rein," he says.
