Colin Firth splits from wife Livia after 22 years of marriage
Oscar-winning actor Colin Firth and producer Livia Giuggioli Firth have split after 22 years of marriage.
“Colin and Livia Firth have separated,” reps for the pair told People. “They maintain a close friendship and remain united in their love for their children. They kindly ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.”
Firth’s team did not immediately respond to Yahoo Entertainment’s request for confirmation.
The separation comes nearly two years after the Firths revealed a previous break in their relationship amid a stalking scandal.
In March 2018, Livia said she had had an 11-month relationship with another man, Italian journalist Marco Brancaccia, between 2015 and 2016, while she and her husband were separated.
The news about that came out because she said Brancaccia began stalking her after she and the Bridget Jones’s Diary star got back together.
He denied Livia’s accusations and insisted that he had only contacted her a handful of times and Colin once after the relationship ended.
Italian officials saw it differently. They reportedly found “abusive messages and emails” on Brancaccia’s phone and charged him with stalking. The case was settled privately, according to People.
The Firths met on the set of a 1986 BBC drama, Nostromo. They share two teenage sons, Luca and Matteo.
