Conan's hilarious message to the people of Haiti
On Conan Thursday night, host Conan O’Brien dedicated the majority of the show to discussing his trip to Haiti this week.
Following President Trump’s alleged reference to Haiti and African countries as “s***hole countries,” O’Brien announced that he will be traveling to Haiti to film a special “Conan in Haiti” episode. “According to witnesses at the meeting the president singled out the country of Haiti in particular, saying, ‘Why do we need more Haitians?’ Now, I have no idea what the president has against the people of Haiti, but as I’ve said the last few nights, if the president doesn’t like them, they must be lovely people,” said O’Brien.
But first O’Brien wanted to formally introduce himself to the people of Haiti. So he brought out a translator to help him deliver his message.
However, little did O’Brien know, his translator was actually trying to warn the people of Haiti. Here were some of the hilarious translations:
“I am a talk show host in the United States … I am not an albino rooster come to life.”
“That’s right. A big celebrity in the United States … I’m on a cable channel so deep your remote battery will die before you get to it.”
“I will be coming down to your beautiful country … when I visit, do not be afraid of my grotesque appearance.”
“My goal is to amuse and entertain you … if you laugh loudly I promise to go away.”
“I look forward to meeting new friends … lock up your livestock, this guy is a freak.”
“I’m especially looking forward to sampling Haiti’s famous creole cuisine … anything spicier than ketchup causes me to black out.”
“So I’ll see you all very soon in Haiti … God help us all, he’s headed our way.”
Maybe someone should warn Conan not to bring his translator along for his trip? On second thought … maybe not.
Conan airs weeknights at 11 p.m. on TBS.
