Country legend Tanya Tucker to headline Longhorn City Limits Saturday

AUSTIN (KXAN) — They’re letting her go to Texas. Grammy-winning country icon Tanya Tucker will take the Longhorn City Limits stage this Saturday, as the No. 1-ranked Longhorns take on the University of Louisiana Monroe.

Tucker proves she’s not “a faded rose gone by” through her third act in the spotlight, fueled by “While I’m Livin’,” her 2019 comeback album co-produced by Brandi Carlisle. Tucker is no stranger to the Lone Star State. The Seminole-born, husky-voiced outlaw roused the audience at last year’s Austin City Limits Festival, with a set spanning her six-decade career.

Where can I park for UT football home games?

Known for “Delta Dawn,” “Texas (When I Die)” and “Love Me like You Used To,” the Country Music Hall of Famer will entertain fans for free on the LBJ Lawn at 5 p.m. Game kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

“It’s so exciting welcoming country royalty Tanya Tucker to the Forty Acres and Longhorn City Limits,” UT Athletics Director Chris Del Conte said in a press release. “Longhorn Nation can look forward to a memorable night on the LBJ Lawn celebrating her incredible legacy before another fantastic Texas Football gameday.”

Before Tucker’s arrival, the music kicks off with another native Texan, Kathryn Legendre, at 3:30 p.m. Nominated for Austin Music Awards’ Best Country Artist in 2021, Legendre similarly paved her own lane in honky tonk melodies.

Now in its sixth season, the concert series has brought a wide variety of artists together so far this season. Country music trio Midland recently took top billing, alongside the rising indie rockers and UT students, West 22nd.

Ahead of a big night at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, fans 21 and over can also check out the Still Austin Music Lounge, the Tito’s Tailgate in front of the LBJ Fountain and Pinkerton’s BBQ.
