A mere 245 days until the Iowa State Fair returns and already officials there are ready to reveal the first of the big concert announcements. Country singer Eric Church takes over the Grandstand on Sunday, Aug. 13, offering the perfect excuse to go to Church on the Fairgrounds for the 8 p.m. show.

The “Desperate Man” and “Record Year” singer performed the State Fair in 2006 when he opened for Brad Paisley, and 2007, warming up the crowd for Gary Allan. He played Wells Fargo Arena last winter.

Church is a seven-time ACM Award winner, four-time CMA Award winner (including the 2020 award for Entertainer of the Year) and 10-time Grammy nominee. The North Carolina native performs songs such as "Hell of a View," "Springsteen," "Like a Wrecking Ball," and "Heart on Fire."

Special guest Jackson Dean opens for the Church Choir with his old-school gritty style of country music. His single “Don’t Come Lookin” reached No. 1 in 2022, making him the youngest solo male country artist to reach the top of the charts with a debut.
