James Gunn, the co-head of DC Studios, is the writer and executive producer on the series. The official logline states the show “tracks a secret team of incarcerated monsters recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans. When all else fails… they’re your last, worst option.”

The cast includes Steve Agee as Economos, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana, Anya Chalotra as Circe, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Sean Gunn as GI Robot & Weasel, David Harbour as Frankenstein, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, Indira Varma as The Bride, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.

“Creature Commandos” is based on DC characters and produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation. Along with Gunn, fellow DC Studios co-head Peter Safran also executive produces along with Dean Lorey, and Sam Register. Rick Morales is a supervising producer.

This will be one of the first DC television projects released on Max since Gunn and Safran took over DC Studios. Other upcoming shows include “The Penguin” live-action series starring Colin Farrell, which ties into Matt Reeves’ “The Batman.” Gunn is also prepping a second season of “Peacemaker” starring John Cena, reprising his role from Gunn’s “Suicide Squad” film. In film, Gunn recently wrapped production on a new “Superman” film starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel.
