Critics Choice Awards rescheduled for Feb. 7 after pair of L.A. wildfire-related postponements
On the heels of two postponements due to the situation surrounding the deadly Los Angeles-area wildfires, the Critics Choice Association has rescheduled its 30th Annual Critics Choice Awards for Feb. 7. The awards had previously been pushed from the original date of Jan. 12 and later Jan. 26.
Chelsea Handler will remain as host of the ceremony that will be broadcast live on E! from 7-10 p.m. ET/PT from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. The show will also be available to stream the next day on Peacock. However, there will no longer be a Live From E!: Critics Choice Awards red carpet special ahead of the telecast, bowing to the ongoing sensitivities over the wildfires. Firefighters continue attempts to gain control of almost 40,000 acres of ongoing wildfires, which have killed at least 27 people and destroyed more than 12,300 structures.

SEE2025 Oscars calendar update: New dates for events amid L.A. wildfires
Leading this year’s Critics Choice nominations for film are Conclave and Wicked, with 11 nominations each. Dune: Part Two and Emilia Pérez are next in line at 10 bids apiece. For television, Shōgun is out front with six nods, followed by Abbott Elementary, The Diplomat, Disclaimer, Hacks, The Penguin, and What We Do in the Shadows each with four.
The wildfires have caused several events and announcements to be postponed or canceled outright. Most notably, the Oscar nominations have been pushed back to Jan. 23. The Academy also extended the voting period so that it now ends this Friday at 5 p.m. PT. In addition to the timeline change, the Academy canceled the nominees luncheon (initially dated for Feb. 10), and it postponed the technical awards ceremony to an undisclosed date. The 2025 Oscars are still scheduled to take place on March 2, with Conan O’Brien as host.
