Cynthia Erivo Goes Avant-garde in Vintage Givenchy Metallic Gown by Alexander McQueen for SAG Awards 2025 Red Carpet
Cynthia Erivo held court upon her arrival at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards. Styled by Jason Bolden, the actress wore a vintage Givenchy gown designed by Alexander McQueen on Sunday’s red carpet in Los Angeles.
Erivo’s dress is from Givenchy’s fall 1997 couture collection, which was filled with Victorian-inspired silhouettes seen through McQueen’s signature avant-garde style. The dress was made from a textured metallic fabric with a rippled or pleated effect throughout, featuring dramatic fringe details at the neckline and sleeves. A high-neck design added drama to the ensemble, as well as its dramatic bell sleeves.

The outfit was styled with Tourneau jewelry and Erivo’s stiletto nails, done by Mycah Dior. For beauty, Erivo opted for clean makeup, allowing the dress to be the focal point.
Erivo attended the 2025 SAG Awards as a nominee and presenter. She is nominated alongside her castmates for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for the film “Wicked.”
This is her second red carpet appearance this weekend. Erivo also attended the 2025 NAACP Image Awards on Saturday, wearing a pinstriped, mob-inspired suit by Dolce & Gabbana.
Jason Bolden styled Erivo for both ceremonies. Bolden also collaborated with Erivo during the entire press tour of “Wicked,” with the actress often embracing method dressing in looks by Louis Vuitton, Carolina Herrera, Salon 1884, Jean Paul Gaultier and Marc Jacobs, among others.
The 2025 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, held on Sunday at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles and hosted by Kristen Bell, honor the best performances in film and TV from 2024. “Shōgun” and “Wicked” lead the nominees with five nods each. Jane Fonda will receive the Life Achievement Award.
