Roberts, 68, is an Oscar nominee himself, having snagged a nod for his performance as prison escapee Buck McGeehy in 1985's Runaway Train. As part of his rehearsal package, Roberts and his pro partner, Britt Stewart, visited the Academy Museum in Los Angeles, specifically touring the ongoing The Godfather exhibit in preparation for their waltz danced to “The Godfather Waltz” by Nino Rota & Carlo Savina.
While there, Roberts and Stewart visited the David Geffen Theater, where his partner surprised him with the footage of his nomination package from Oscar night in 1986. Roberts' category was presented by Cher, wearing her iconic Bob Mackie ensemble complete with feather headdress. The package showcased a glimpse of Roberts in the audience.

"It felt so special and prideful. It was a dream come true to the Nth degree. You can’t imagine what it feels like."
Roberts tried to bring that nominee magic into his performance for the night. "Hopefully for my second dance, I can be Oscar-worthy," he quipped.
