‘Dancing with the Stars’ mystery: Which ‘Bachelor Nation’ celeb will do better on the dance floor?
It wouldn’t be a season of “Dancing with the Stars” without someone from the “Bachelor” extended universe competing on the dance floor. But this year we’ve got two. And in interesting turn of events, a bachelor who was looking for love will be pitted against one of the women he rejected during his season. Awkward. History indicates, however, that she’ll probably have a leg up.
In the last season of “The Bachelor,” Joey Graziadei chose a future bride from a group of 32 women. Jenn Tran was one of those women. She advanced to week seven of the romantic contest, but was eliminated along with Kelsey Toussant. Graziadei ended up choosing Kelsey Anderson at the end of the season. But Tran got another chance at love when she was selected as the next “Bachelorette.” She ended up with Devin Strader. However, during the live finale that aired September 3 she revealed that Stader had already broken up with her.

Now poor Tran has to compete against Graziadei for the Mirror Ball Trophy, but there’s good news for her. “Bachelorettes” tend to do a lot better on “DWTS” than “Bachelors” do. In the last five seasons, four women from the dating competition franchise have competed, and all of them finished in the top four, with two of them winning (Hannah Brown in season 28, Kaitlyn Bristowe in season 29). Meanwhile, the last “Bachelor” to test his fancy footwork, Matt James in season 30, ended up in 12th place. Before him, Nick Viall finished sixth in season 24 and Chris Soules finished fifth in season 20. So while women have won, the men are mostly mid.
Our current odds are consistent with that track record. According to the combined predictions of “DWTS” fans who have placed their bets here in our predictions center so far, Tran ranks second for the Mirror Ball Trophy with 9/2 odds (right behind the front-runner, gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik). Graziadei, meanwhile, is in sixth place with 9/1 odds. Are “Bachelor Nation” men really all doomed to finish in the middle of the pack, or can Graziadei break that curse?
