Dancing With the Stars Pro Artem Chigvintsev Arrested for Domestic Violence — Will It Impact Season 33?

Longtime Dancing With the Stars pro Artem Chigvintsev was arrested on Thursday for suspected domestic violence.

Though Chigvintsev has competed on 12 of Dancing With the Stars‘ last 14 seasons — including Season 32 last fall, where he came in fourth place with Bachelorette star Charity Lawson — a rep for the show confirms he was not on the pro roster for the upcoming Season 33. Since making his Dancing debut in Season 19, Chigvintsev has only sat out Seasons 21 and 28; a reason for his absence from Season 33 was not given.

Chigvintsev’s wife, WWE alum Nikki Garcia — who Chigvintsev met when they competed on Dancing‘s 25th cycle together — indicated in an Instagram Story on Wednesday that she was also spending time in Napa, though details of her potential involvement with the alleged domestic violence incident are not yet clear.

Reps for Chigvintsev and Garcia did not immediately respond to TVLine’s requests for comment.

Dancing With the Stars, meanwhile, will proceed with Season 33 on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 8/7c on ABC. Thus far, Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik has been announced as a celebrity contestant, with the full roster set to be revealed on Wednesday, Sept. 4, on Good Morning America. On the pro side, Witney Carson has confirmed she’ll be returning for Season 33 after sitting out last season; her celebrity partner remains unknown.
