Daredevil: Born Again Releases First Trailer, Filming on Season 2 Starts ‘Soon’
Vincent D’Onofrio told TVLine that Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again — though not exactly a revival of his and Charlie Cox’s Netflix series — is “as intense as we’ve ever been.” And to look at the first trailer, released at Disney’s annual D23 event this Friday night, Wilson Fisk’s portrayer told no lies.

The new Daredevil series originally was slated to premiere in Spring 2024, but production was paused last fall to undergo a creative overhaul. Dario Scardapane (The Punisher) replaced Matt Corman and Chris Ord as showrunner, while on the casting front, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and Ayelet Zurer wound up reprising their Netflix series roles as Karen Page, Foggy Nelson and Vanessa Fisk.
Daredevil: Born Again resumed filming in January and wrapped in April. Cox told TVLine that nine episodes were filmed, to premiere in March 2025 — and now comes word, via the cast’s appearance at D23, that filming on a second season will begin “soon.”
It was also double-super-official confirmed at D23 that a hirsute Jon Bernthal (who was spied in location photos ages ago) will reprise his role as Frank Castle/Punisher, while the trailer above also teases a look at Wilson Bethel’s return as Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye, a live-action White Tiger character (casting thus far unknown), and the villain Muse.
Daredevil: Born Again: Everything We Know
Did this retooling result in versions of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk that are closer to the exact same characters Cox and D’Onofrio played for three seasons in Netflix’s Marvel’s Daredevil?
“Not exactly the same, but much closer,” Cox shared in the TVLine video at top. “And potentially much improved.”
D’Onofrio in turn said, “It’s hard to comment because I want to say so much about both the [Netflix] show and this show, and the change that happened, but in the end, the last few months of work we did was… written beautifully and directed beautifully…. Personally, I think it’s as intense as we’ve ever been.”
