Dave Chappelle donating comedy show proceeds to families of Molson Coors shooting victims

Dave Chappelle didn't come to just to Wisconsin make people laugh. He also came for a good cause.

Fans who saw the superstar comedian's first Pabst Theater show Tuesday night in Milwaukee took to Twitter to say Chappelle said he was donating all of the ticket proceeds to families of the Molson Coors shooting victims.

On Feb. 26, according to Milwaukee police, Anthony N. Ferrill, 51, an employee at the Molson Coors brewery complex, shot and killed five employees, then shot and killed himself.

The victims were: Jesus Valle Jr., 33, of Milwaukee; Gennady "Gene" Levshetz, 61, of Mequon; Trevor Wetselaar, 33, of Milwaukee; Dana Walk, 57, of Delafield; and Dale Hudson, 60, of Waukesha.

Last Wednesday, one week after the shootings, Chappelle announced a surprise Pabst Theater residency, consisting of four shows that started Tuesday night and conclude with two more shows Wednesday. It's the third time he's done a residency at the 1,300-seat venue. All of this week's shows are sold out.

This isn't the first time Chappelle has used his comedy shows to help people impacted by gun violence. In August, Chappelle performed a benefit show at his hometown in Dayton, Ohio, after a mass shooting outside a bar.

“I live in Dayton," Chappelle reportedly said at the first Pabst Theater show Tuesday night, according to showgoer Dan Molloy. "I just want you to know people care about you. No matter what the government does, we care about you.”
