Dax Shepard Spent the Golden Globes Rooting For the Detroit Lions (and Wife Kristen Bell)
It’s never easy for sports fans when those pesky things like work and family commitments get in the way of watching a big game. Luckily, the advent of cell phones, Wi-Fi, and/or strong 5G coverage has made it possible for fans everywhere to catch every big play while nominally giving a small percentage of their attention to the actual events surrounding them.
Dax Shepard delivered a masterclass in this style of ultimate fan multitasking as he watched his beloved Detroit Lions play the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football during the 82nd Golden Globe Awards.

The actor and podcaster was in tow with wife Kristen Bell, who was nominated for Best Actress in a TV Series – Musical or Comedy for Nobody Wants This. During the ceremony, Bell captured a video of Shepard watching the game as “discretely” as possible: Head down, hands clasped, eyes fixed on the small screen of his phone held deftly between his legs while two uninteresting nobodies— Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford — yammered on about the nominees for Best Animated Motion Picture.
As Bell herself captioned her Instagram Stories post, “#priorities.”
While Bell, unfortunately, went home empty-handed (Hacks star Jean Smart took home the Best Actress prize), it was a great night for Shephard and the Lions, who beat the Vikings 31-9 to secure the top seed in the NFC, along with home field advantage throughout the playoffs and a first-round bye. That means Shepherd will be able to devote his full attention to the Critics Choice Awards next Sunday, Jan. 12, where Bell is once again nominated.
