Days of Our Lives Shocker: Brandon Barash Out as Stefan DiMera (and His Last Episode Airs Very Soon)
Salem will be down one more DiMera before the end of the month. Brandon Barash, who has appeared on Days of Our Lives in dual roles since 2019, has been written out of the Peacock soap, the actor tells TVLine’s sister site Soaps.com.
Stefan’s last episode is slated to stream on Monday, Oct. 28, but because of Days‘ advanced shooting schedule, Barash says he received word seven months ago that the writers had decided to send his character packing.

Should the writers decide to bring Stefan back someday, it doesn’t sound like Barash is eager to take their phone call. “I would have to be able to trust them, and I’ve lost that,” he tells the site. “I’ve lost that ability to trust that team, quite frankly.” He sums up the entire experience as a “gut punch.”
Barash joined Days in March 2019, taking over the role of Stefan DiMera from Tyler Christopher. The character was killed off later that year, but Barash returned in April 2020 as (surprise!) Stefan’s twin brother Jake, who stuck around for several years before being fatally shot in July 2022.
Of course, Barash’s time in Salem wasn’t over just yet. It was soon revealed that Stefan’s body had been preserved after his death, and that he could be revived if given Jake’s heart. That replacement ticker has served Stefan well ever since, keeping him alive through the present day.
Prior to his tenure on Days, Barash played Johnny Zacchara on General Hospital from 2007 to 2016. His non-soap TV credits include roles on Gilmore Girls, Good Trouble and Major Crimes.
New episodes of Days of Our Lives stream weekdays on Peacock. Will you miss seeing Stefan in Salem? Drop a comment with your thoughts on Barash’s impending exit below.
