“Dear Evan Hansen” stars Ben Platt and Noah Galvin tie the knot: 'We are still floating'

The actors both played the titular role in Broadway's "Dear Evan Hansen" but met a decade prior.

Do you, Evan Hansen, take Evan Hansen to be your lawfully wedded husband? For Ben Platt and Noah Galvin, the answer is a resounding "I do."

Over the weekend, the two former Dear Evan Hansen stars got married in an elaborate multi-day celebration in New York City surrounded by their family and friends.

"Dancing was our priority at every turn... We couldn’t have asked for anything more," Galvin told Vogue. "We are still floating. And mostly we’re happy we get to keep hanging out forever."

"Our greatest hope was to give everyone a joyful, low-stress weekend full of warmth and a window into our relationship and the life that we are building," Platt told the outlet. "And we wanted the dancing to go off. We feel that all missions were accomplished... We were overwhelmed with love, sweaty, and sobbing most of the time. We took our coats off halfway through — we were emotionally overheated."

Platt added that "the highlight of the night" was "a surprise concert by our all-time favorite band Muna."

"At this point, our souls left our bodies and we have yet to return," he said. "We will never be able to repay them. They even brought out Noah’s brother Adrian — a.k.a. Yoke Lore — to finish the set with them on 'Silk Chiffon.'"

Platt originated the titular role of Evan Hansen in the Tony award-winning Broadway musical until his departure from the show in 2017, which is when Galvin took over. He then performed the role until his exit in 2018. Platt then returned to the role for the Dear Evan Hansen movie adaptation in 2021.

However, Platt and Galvin revealed they actually first met in 2014 when Galvin was making a web series, in which Platt played a guest role. "Our first meeting was shooting with a tiny crew in his mom's old apartment doing improv together," Platt said. "I was playing his weird roommate who loved cacti and cried over his distant cousin Josh Groban. Noah was medium into it."

The two didn't have a romantic relationship until they began dating in January 2020. Less than a year later, Platt proposed to Galvin in November 2020. Galvin later proposed back to Platt months later "with a failed scavenger hunt."

Last year, the couple both starred in Theater Camp, a mockumentary film set at a theater summer camp for kids.
