Are Demi & Selena Still Friends?
Fifteen years ago, there was a very sweet season at the Disney Channel. It's also possible that this season was the last sweet season at the Disney Channel. Do you know the one we're talking about?
It all started in the early-to-mid 2000s. The JoBros came into our lives in '05 and Hannah Montana in '06. We sort of met Selena Gomez for the first time in '07 and Demi Lovato in '08. This wasn't, however, the first time these last two had met each other.

Both raised in the Dallas area (holla!), Dems and Sel originally met on the set of Barney & Friends in 2002. They're the exact same age:When Selena's 28th birthday rolls around on July 22nd, Demi's right behind her (she'll celebrate her 28th on August 20th). The friendship between the two Texans has been a subject of media speculation as long as we can remember, and a recent Instagram story from Lovato has some fans in a panic - again.
We think the reasoning is kind of silly, tbh. It was literally just a video of Demi listening to "Yummy," the new single from Justin Bieber. Yes, of course, there's the Selena/Justin thing - but is it even really a thing anymore?
The Biebs has clearly moved on (see: his marriage to Hailey Baldwin-Bieber in 2018), and it appears that Sel-Go has too. Her new album "Rare" is a gem, and our girl looks happier + healthier than ever.
Don't believe us? Wow. Look at her now.
There is something the two gals hold in common but share contradicting views on, and that is their relationship with Scooter Braun.
Everyone remembers Scooter's regular appearances in everything Bieber did at the beginning of his career - wherever Justin went, Scoot was there. And he wasn't just there, he was like, literally there, on camera.
While Lovato signed on Braun as her manager in May 2019, Gomez took a public stance against him in response to his legal disputes with Taylor Swift.
"My heart is so heavy right now," Selena wrote via social media on November 15, 2019. "It's greed, manipulation and power. You've robbed and crushed one of our best songwriters of our time."
However, it seems that Selena and Demi always have each other's backs when it matters the most.
Following Selena's kidney transplant in late 2017, Demi had nothing but nice things to say about her old friend. "I think that she is a very strong woman," she told PEOPLE "I’m very happy and proud of her.”
Selena also reached out to Demi after Lovato's accidental overdose in 2018. "All I'm saying is, I reached out personally. I didn't do a public thing. I didn't want to. I love her," Gomez said.
See? Nothing to worry about here, folks.
