New Details Revealed About Jesse Lee Soffer's 'FBI: International' Entrance

There's a new Supervisory Special Agent on the way for FBI: International's Fly Team, and he's a familiar face for fans of Dick Wolf's sprawling TV universe. It was announced earlier this summer that Chicago PD alum Jesse Lee Soffer will join International in the wake of Luke Kleintank's exit, and now there are a few more clues about what to expect when he encounters his new team. Not only are there a couple of charming new photos, but thanks to TVLine, there's a bit of new intel. The site reports that Soffer's character, SSA Wes Mitchell, will not yet be with his new team when the season premieres.

Showrunner Matt Olmstead told TVLine, "Viewers meet him when he is investigating a 'tourism robbery' crew in Los Angeles — and dealing with turbulence with his girlfriend."

Agent Mitchell is described as "charming and rakish," an agent whose impeccable instincts and unconventional tactics fuel his drive to stop at nothing to achieve justice. He will head up a team that currently consists of Special Agent Andre Raines (Carter Redwood), Special Agent Cameron Vo (Vinessa Vidotto), FBI Analyst Amanda Tate (Christina Wolfe) and Europol agent Smitty Garretson (Eva-Jane Willis). They're all reeling from the disappearance of their boss, SSA Scott Forrester, just months after saying goodbye to Special Agent Jamie Kellett (Heida Reed) in the Season 3 premiere.

Kleintank left at the end of Season 3 in order to spend more time with his family in the United States, and his character Agent Forrester also left to spend time with family in the U.S. as he went on the run with his fugitive double agent mother Angela Cassidy and was last tracked in Alaska. It is yet to be seen if Agent Mitchell will have similarly dangerous family secrets.

Later on in the season, Station 19 alum Jay Hayden will join International as another charming FBI agent looking for help on a case in Budapest.

Now, as the October 15 premiere date approaches for all the FBIs, there's still at least one mystery afoot: Where is Officer Jay Halstead? Despite the fact that they're on different networks, it was established in Season 2 of FBI that the FBI shows exist in the same universe as the Chicago shows as Haily Upton, played by Tracy Spiridakos, showed up for interagency training. Upton was married to Halstead, played by Jesse Lee Soffer. So are Agent Wes Mitchell and Detective Jay Halstead just doppelgangers, or are we in for some sort of incredible twist in which Wes Mitchell is secretly Jay Halstead? Probably not, but a Chicago PD fan can dream.
