Diego Luna's son wasn't an immediate Star Wars fan.

The 44-year-old actor stopped by the PEOPLE/EW suite at the D23 Expo to discuss his hit Disney+ show Andor, which serves as a prequel to the 2016 standalone film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

As he talked about how he's always been a fan of Star Wars, Luna said the same can't be said about his son Jerónimo, now 16, whom he shares with ex Camila Sodi.

"I remember the first time I put on Star Wars for my son and clearly it was too early because he left me by myself watching the film," he told PEOPLE. "I said, let's start with New Hope. I think he was too young to watch it, but I really wanted to share the film with my son because it's important."

"He was just bored," he added, noting that his son was about 5 or 6 at the time. "I was with a friend of mine and we were there.... This is the moment every father is waiting for. And he lasted like 20 minutes and we watched the whole film, obviously. Years later he watched it again and liked it."

Luna previously shared in an interview with Variety in March that Andor’s second season would be its last — and said that he's happy that's where it ends.

"It is just a two-season show, which is really important for my mental health," Luna explained. "But knowing this is the end, I want to enjoy it and get the best out of this experience."

The Disney+ series follows Luna's Cassian Andor, a thief who is recruited to become a Rebel spy. The first season of the show was a tense espionage thriller that followed Andor through a high-stakes heist and a prison break.

As the story gets closer to the Rogue One film timeline, it’s likely that some stars from the film will also show up, as Luna hinted in an interview with Screen Rant. He shared that “there will be characters” in the new season “that you will recognize.”

“There will be cool stuff,” he continued. “For those who love Rogue One, this season is going to be very special. And it’s going to be fascinating to go straight to Rogue One after watching this second season, because you will see Rogue One from a different perspective. I promise you that.”

He also shared that people should expect to see “the world upside down” at the end of the series, and praised writer Tony Gilroy for his ability to write such a compelling story.

“It’s going to be a very rich second season, because all those stories matter today. It is a true ensemble piece,” he said. “It got very complicated in season one, and everything has to get resolved. Every story matters.”

Season 1 of Andor is available to stream on Disney+.
