Disney revives 'Star Wars' animated series 'The Clone Wars' for new streaming service
To quote Master Yoda: “Back The Clone Wars is.” Four years after the beloved Star Wars spinoff cartoon aired its final season on Netflix, Lucasfilm and Disney announced today at San Diego Comic Con that the series would be returning as part of the launch of the Mouse House’s new streaming service. Original Clone Wars supervising director Dave Filoni will be overseeing the new season, which will also feature the return of fan-favorite Ahsoka Tano, voiced by Ashley Eckstein. Check out the new trailer for the series above.
The show’s 12-episode seventh season is a reward for all the fans who have been tweeting #SavetheCloneWars since the show wrapped up in 2014. The new episodes will pick up in the same pre-Revenge of the Sith continuity, when the Clone Wars are still raging and Anakin Skywalker’s fall hasn’t yet begun. We’re still waiting for official word on when and in what form the Disney streaming service will debut, but having a Clone Wars series in its arsenal is a great way to begin.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars will premiere on Disney’s streaming service.
