‘Doctor Odyssey’ Off To Strong Start For ABC As Premiere Reels In Nearly 14M Viewers
EXCLUSIVE: Doctor Odyssey‘s maiden voyage seems to be going swimmingly.
Ryan Murphy’s latest procedural set sail on ABC last week and, so far, the premiere episode has tallied 13.6M cross-platform viewers in its first week, Disney says. That’s an impressive 230% increase over the episode’s live + same-day audience of 4.13M.

This is a monster start for Doctor Odyssey. While most broadcast series grow their audiences quite significantly in the week after they air, once episodes become available on streaming, it is fairly rare for an episode to average 10M viewers in that time frame — let alone blow right past it.
Within three days of viewing, the cruise ship drama had already delivered 7.59M viewers, making it ABC’s best drama premiere in four years, according to Disney. And after its first full day on Hulu, it was No. 1 on the streamer’s Top 15 Today list, and it has remained there since.
Murphy, who has had six series premiere across four networks in the past two weeks, is off to a great Fall season start at ABC, where his first responder drama 9-1-1 also returned to the airwaves last week.
That premiere, which kicked off an epic bee-nado storyline, was up to 8.27M viewers across platforms in the first three days, up from 6.21M who tuned in same-day. 9-1-1 is and remains one of the most popular shows on network TV.
Doctor Odyssey is written and executive produced by Murphy, Jackson, Johnson Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken. Paris Barclay directs and executive produces. Eric Paquette, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson and Nissa Diederich also executive produce. The series stars Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson, Phillipa Soo and Sean Teale.
New episodes of Doctor Odyssey and 9-1-1 air Thursday night on ABC.
