Don Cheadle Joins Cast Of Peacock’s ‘Fight Night’ True Crime Series
Don Cheadle will be appearing as part of the cast of the forthcoming Fight Night true crime series.
On Monday (Feb. 5), Variety reported that Cheadle will be joining the Peacock limited series, which stars Kevin Hart in its leading role. In addition to Hart and Cheadle, Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist is set to feature an ensemble cast including Taraji P. Henson, Samuel L. Jackson, Terrence Howard, and Dexter Darden.
According to the series’ synopsis, Fight Night is set in Atlanta and centered around “the infamous story of how an armed robbery during the night of Muhammad Ali’s (Darden) historic 1970 comeback fight changed not only one man’s life, but an entire city’s destiny.”
In Fight Night, Cheadle will play the role of JD Hudson, a pioneering Black detective from Atlanta who provides security detail for Ali amid the boxing legend’s comeback to the sport. The series is an adaption of executive producer Will Packer’s Fight Night podcast, which was housed under iHeartPodcasts and Doghouse Pictures.
The Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist Peacock series was created by Shaye Ogbonna, who will also serve as showrunner alongside Jason Horwitch. The series will be produced by Universal Television, Will Packer Media, and Doghouse Pictures.
In 2023, Cheadle landed a voiceover role as The Commander in the Netflix series Agent Elvis, and reprised his role as James Rhodes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe miniseries Secret Invasion.
He is currently filming Unstoppable, a sports biopic starring Jharrel Jerome as former NCAA wrestling champion Anthony Robles. The film includes a supporting cast of Jennifer Lopez, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Pe?a, and Cheadle.
