Video: Donald Trump Hosts ‘Saturday Night Live’ – With A Hand From Larry David

Donald Trump met his two mini-me’s in the opening monologue of tonight’s Saturday Night Live (Taran Killam and Darrell Hammond), but the the best joke came from Larry David. David already had appeared in the cold open as Senator Bernie Sanders. Standing off to the side during the monologue, David called out “Trump’s a racist!” Questioned by the host, David

admitted he’d done it for the $5,000 bounty offered to anyone who disrupted the show as an act of conscience over Trump’s being picked to host the program. “As a businessman,” Trump said, “I can understand that.”

“People think I’m controversial but the truth is, I’m a nice guy” Trump said in his intro, actually looking kind of nervous. “I don’t hold grudges against anybody — like Rosie O’Donnell.” (Who then appeared, in the person of Aidy Bryant.)

In the cold open, David came on as Sanders following Kate McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton, which continues to get better as she answered idiotic questions from Cecily Strong’s Rachel Maddow and tried to seem cool, comfortable and casual. The monologue was followed by a sketch set in the future White House of a very successful President Trump, in which his Canonet tells him all the world is right (Vladimir Putin pulled out of Ukraine because he got tired of being called “a loser” and the President of Mexico handed him a generous check to cover the cost of that wall). It would have been hilarious if it weren’t so…hilarious. Not to mention a likely gratis boon for his candidacy.
