Donald Trump Jr. and ‘The View’ co-host Sunny Hostin spark new feud on Twitter

Donald Trump Jr. went up against the women of The View earlier this week, but it seems that tensions haven’t cooled, judging by a hostile argument on Twitter.

“Not sure where The View’s @Sunny got her law degree from, but she should think about asking for a refund,” Donald Trump Jr. tweeted on Friday about The View co-host and lawyer Sunny Hostin, sharing a Daily Wire story called “Hostin Attacks Trump Jr With False Claims On Whistleblower, Transcript. Here’s The Truth.”

Hostin tweeted back, "Did you also think what you did at the Trump Foundation was legal?" She attached an ABC News story titled, “President Donald Trump ordered to pay $2M to collection of nonprofits as part of civil lawsuit.”

Where to start? On Thursday, the first son and his girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle made an appearance during the show’s “Hot Topics” segment and engaged in a passionate back-and-forth. At one point, Megan McCain said, “You and your family have hurt a lot of people and put a lot of people through a lot of pain...Does all of this make you feel good?”

And Trump Jr., accused Joy Behar of wearing “blackface” (regarding a 2016 acknowledgment that Behar had dressed “as a beautiful African woman” one Halloween), to which she denied, with the support of moderator Whoopi Goldberg.

But the Twitter scuffle stemmed from a moment on the show when Hostin suggested that Trump Jr. broke the law by re-tweeting the alleged name of a whistleblower who reported a phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that promoted the impeachment inquiry.

"Kimberly, you’re a lawyer...did you advise your boyfriend that it is a federal crime to out a whistleblower?" Hostin asked Guilfoyle on the show.

“Well, it’s not a federal crime,” responded Trump Jr. “It’s only a federal crime for the IG [Inspector General] to do it, that's in the statute...”

When asked by Hostin if he regretted the retweet, Trump Jr. answered, “I don’t think I should have to forgo my First Amendment rights. I didn’t want to create hysteria but if I’m reading an article, and the name is out there, I didn’t even realize that this [this was] some sort of big secret...it’s out there, I read it in an article, I’ve been reading it for a week, I saw it on the Drudge Report, like this is not some secret...”

Donald Trump Jr. was the last to respond on Friday, tweeting, “What's it like to draw a paycheck from a network that not only protected pedophile-rapist Jeffery Epstein, but then retaliated against the courageous female whistleblower by pressuring CBS to fire her?”

The president’s son was referring to the controversial leaked video with ABC News anchor Amy Robach, recently the subject of a leaked video clip. In the recording, she complained that her network rejected a story about billionaire and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who died in his jail cell in August while waiting for his trial on sex trafficking charges.

According to Variety, ABC News responded to the contents of the leaked video with the following statement. “At the time, not all of our reporting met our standards to air, but we have never stopped investigating the story. Ever since we’ve had a team on this investigation and substantial resources dedicated to it. That work has led to a two-hour documentary and 6-part podcast that will air in the new year.”
