Donald Trump To Press Covering FBI Probe If He Acted As Russian Agent:
Donald Trump kicked off Monday once again trying to hand over responsibility to Democrats for the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.
“Nancy and Cryin’ Chuck can end the Shutdown in 15 minutes. At this point it has become their, and the Democrats fault!”
Tough sell, given that video of him bellowing at Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer that he would be proud to own the shutdown for the sake of getting his Border Wall funding. And various polling suggests the public still is giving Trump the credit.
Hedging his bets, Trump also blasted Dem politicians who in Puerto Rico as Shutdown hits day 24″ with a shout-out to his pals at @foxandfriends.
“Dems in Puerto RIco as Shutdown hits day 24.” @foxandfriends” he tweeted.
About 30 Dem members of Congress traveled to Puerto Rico over the weekend, where they attended a special fundraiser performance of Hamilton starring it’s creator, playwright/actor/writer Lin-Manuel Miranda. Democrats also planned to attend the Congressional Hispanic Caucus BOLD PAC confab in San Juan and meet with Puerto Rican officials to discuss ongoing hurricane mop-up. Some of the Dems were dumb enough to be seen sunning on the beach as the partial government shutdown slogged on.
“I’ve been waiting all weekend. Democrats must get to work now. Border must be secured,” Trump tweeted as he was holed up in the White House.
Trump also continued to whack at weekend reports in NYT and WaPo about FBI having launched an investigation into whether Trump, willing or un, had become a Russian tool. Those reports continued to dominate the TV news cycle Monday morning. As Trump tweeted, CNN, for instance, focused on transcripts it obtained detailing how the FBI debated whether Trump was “following directions” of Russia.
Trump complained the “Fake News gets crazier and more dishonest every single day. Amazing to watch as certain people covering me, and the tremendous success of this administration, have truly gone MAD!” He suggested the journalists “take two weeks off and come back rested. Chill!”
On a sunnier note, Trump also tweeted enthusiastically that he was getting ready to address the Farm Convention in Nashville, because he loves Tennessee and loves farmers. But that tweet got deleted upon being reminded the confab is in New Orleans.
