Don't Miss Sofia Vergara's Golden Buzzer Winner As It Performs With Feet of Fire

America’s Got Talent has always featured impressive dance acts. Just think of The Mayyas, who won in 2022; V. Unbeatable, who won AGT: The Champions Season 2; Murmuration; Zurcaroh; and World Taekwondo, but never has there been a dance act that set its feet on fire until tonight.

Flying in from Argentina to perform on the AGT stage, Legion, a Malambo dance troupe, literally set the night on fire when they performed with their boots in flames.

“We needed that. That was epic,” Simon Cowell said as the audience and the judges gave the men a standing ovation.

Legion hopes to win the competition and take their dance act to Las Vegas, so they were super prepared when they performed. Each of the members has a day job, like teaching or construction, but at night, they rehearse in one of the group's members—Fabian—parents' backyard.

“Wow, that was very exciting, very unexpected, very surprising. What are you thinking?” Howie Mandel asked.

“The Malambo is life and this is a big dream for us, an incredible opportunity,” Fabian answered.

"I don’t know anything about the Malambo or this type of dance but I was feeling every bit of it and I loved it,” Heidi Klum added. “It was incredible. Many dancers have danced on this stage, but their feet were never on fire. It really was a treat.”

Simon has already used both of his Golden Buzzers for the season, but that didn’t stop him from heaping praise on Legion.

He said, “This is something I can genuinely see in Vegas. I can see this all over the world. The amount of preparation… I can see what this means to you. What I love about this season is we’re seeing acts from all over the world and, of course, America. We’ve never seen this before and it’s the best feeling in the world when something works like that and is exciting and new and real. Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant!”

But Sofia Vergara wasn’t as impressed. At least she initially pretended not to be.

“Well, I guess all the judges are so fascinated with you guys because for them this is something so different,” she told Legion. “I’m South American. I’ve seen this dance many times.”

The audience booed her, but she ignored them and went on, “For me, you guys have to do something spectacular and that was spectacular. I thought it was amazing. I had never seen anything like that and it’s exactly why I’m going to do this.”

And so saying, she hit the Golden Buzzer, and went up on stage to join the group. One of the dancers leaned over and told her, “You scared us.”

Even host Terry Crews was surprised. He told her, “Sofia, you faked us all out on that one.”

Sofia said, “This is exactly what we’re here for. This is exactly AGT. It might change these guys’ lives and I love to be part of it.”
