Doug Emhoff Shares Heartwarming Tribute to Kamala Harris on Major Anniversary

Thursday, August 22, is a big day for Kamala Harris. Not only is the Vice President scheduled to deliver her keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention, but Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, are celebrating ten years of marriage.

Emhoff posted a sweet tribute to his wife in honor of the special anniversary on X, sharing a slideshow of photos and video of the couple throughout the years, posed side-by-side in a variety of different scenarios from political events to the great outdoors. In an accompanying voiceover, Emhoff recalled the very beginning of their relationship.

"We did go on that first date, love at first sight, we were literally talking about our future by the end of that first date," Emhoff said. "And that next morning, I'm sending her an email, 'Here are my availabilities for the next six months.' And 10 years later, here we are."

The slideshow ended with an image of the couple kissing each other at their wedding.

"Ten years of marriage, forever to go. Happy anniversary, @VP. I love you," Emhoff captioned the post.

The comment section was filled with congratulations.

"You too look so beautiful together I wish you nothing but the best, for real!!" wrote one fan.

"Happy Anniversary!! May you have some quiet moments together today before celebrating in the biggest way possible tonight!!!!!" commented a second X user.

Harris and Emhoff met on a blind date in 2013 after being set up by a mutual friend, Chrisette Hudlin. Prior to their initial meeting, Emhoff famously left Harris a rambling voicemail which Harris saved and plays every year on their anniversary. "This Thursday will be our tenth wedding anniversary, which, I know I am about to hear that embarrassing voicemail again," Emhoff said in his DNC speech on August 20.

Emhoff proposed—during a conversation about what to have for dinner—in March 2014, less than a year after that first date. They were married on Aug. 22, 2014, in a courthouse ceremony.
