Drew Barrymore Has Emotional Reunion With Ex-Husband Tom Green on Her Show
Drew Barrymore had a tearful reunion with her ex-husband Tom Green after admitting to not speaking for 15 years. The actress invited Green on her new daytime talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show, on Friday where the two sweetly reminisced over their time together. We’re so happy to see that their love and respect for one another is still there!
The talk show host introduced Green with a smile, “I have always been attracted to visionaries, comedians, and people who make me laugh. I was so attracted to our next guest I even married him!”
“When you say 20 years, sometimes it’s the blink of an eye and sometimes you’re like, Oh my God, we have lived so much in these last 20 years,” Barrymore said, “You’ve had a whole life, and I’ve had a whole life and it’s just really nice to come together.” Since their marriage, the Golden Globe winner has been married twice. She shares two daughters — Olive, age 7, and Frankie, age 6—with her most recent marriage to Will Kopelman.
As Green settled in he told Barrymore that his parents, Dick and Mary Jane said “hello” adding that, “They’re really happy that I’m on the show. They’re happy for you, we’re all really happy for you actually. We love watching you do amazing things”.
Barrymore and Green first worked together in the timeless 2000 film Charlie’s Angels where he played “The Chad”. The actress recalled that she had admired Green’s work and reached out for him to come work on the film. A year later, they tied the knot before deciding to split up. “That was so exciting getting to do that movie with you. We hit it off right away,” said Green of their time on screen together.
An emotional Barrymore went on to say that she has had two nights of great sleep in her life before her daughters were born. “I remember this night just being so content,” a choked Barrymore began, “I was at your parents’ lake house, and I remember hearing all their voices upstairs. I was by myself and going to sleep, and I was like, ‘Yeah, this is what safety and contentedness feels like before you’re going to sleep.’
“I love your parents,” said Barrymore, “I really love you and I celebrate you.”
