Duane 'Dog' Chapman called Moon Angell when he was having suicidal thoughts: 'I couldn't stop crying'
Duane "Dog" Chapman credits Moon Angell with helping save his life.
The former Dog the Bounty Hunter star and Angell, a longtime family friend, discussed their rumored relationship with Dr. Oz. It's been seven months since Dog's wife, Beth Chapman, died of cancer and he has had a difficult time coping. In a new preview clip for Monday's episode, Dog opens up about having suicidal thoughts and how he called Angell one day very upset.
"Well, I couldn't stop crying," he recalls. "Again I’m Apache, I wasn't going to commit suicide with a gun or something. I was going to take a lot of pills because Beth left all her big pills there. So I thought I just need one drink of water."
"You were going to commit suicide?" Dr. Oz replies.
"Oh, yeah," Dog emotionally confirms.
"What made you choose life over death?" Dr. Oz asks.
The Dog’s Most Wanted star, 66, looks over at Angell.
"Well, she's pretty rough this one," he says.
"I say brutally honest," Angell chimes in.
"I say brutal," laughs Dog.
"Brutally honest," Angell says. "I don't go in and out. It's one way and this is the way we're going to do it. He needs to get going. We need to get him back on the show and get him busy again."
"Would you call your relationship intimate?" Dr. Oz asks.
"It has to be intimate, because there's a lot of powerful things going on with Dog," Angell explains.
Dog and Angell have been rumored to be dating for weeks. In a different preview for their appearance on The Dr. Oz Show, the reality star spontaneously proposes.
"I am a lot happier with her around," he declares, later asking, "Moon Angell, will you marry me?"
Dog's family is not happy about his relationship with Angell — whatever it may be. At one point, she admits, "I have lots of enemies right now."
Last year, Dog told People Now while he's open to love again, he promised Beth he would never remarry.
"What deal we said is I will never take 'Beth' off my chest, I have her name here. And I will never get married," he said in October. "And she said to me, 'We are human, OK?' And probably the same thing I’d say to her: 'I know you’re gonna have a boyfriend, I hope you have 10, but don’t go fricking marry one, and say those words. Don’t you dare do that.' I would say that, and she did say that to me."
Dog, who has been married five times, said he was not ready for physical intimacy.
"Sex is a thing like almost in the past right now," he explained. "I’m not having it and I don’t care. It’s weird."
