Why Duran Duran at the Birds Nest is such a glorious surprise

Among the iconic bands in the history of pop and rock, Duran Duran recently released their highly anticipated 16th studio album, “Danse Macabre.” Featuring four members from the original lineup — Simon Le Bon on lead vocals, Nick Rhodes on keyboards, John Taylor on bass and Roger Taylor on drums — the album also includes special guest appearances from former members Andy Taylor and Warren Cuccurullo, as well as contributions from long-time collaborators Nile Rodgers and Dom Brown.

The album also boasts appearances from Maneskin’s Victoria De Angelis and producers Josh Blair and Mr. Hudson.

Duran Duran has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling artists of all time. Their longevity and influence on pop culture are undeniable, and they have received accolades such as Grammy Awards, Brit Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Their 2022 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame marked yet another career peak, with the year already having seen the band headline London’s Hyde Park, perform at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace, close the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in their home town of Birmingham, and a headline tour across North America which included sold-out shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden and three nights at the Hollywood Bowl.

Their groundbreaking music videos and pioneering use of technology in their art have left an indelible mark on the music industry.
