Ebon Moss-Bachrach Reveals He Hasn’t Seen Other Fantastic Four Films
It was a big weekend for Marvel fans with the release of Deadpool & Wolverine and the Hall H panel from Marvel during the San Diego Comic-Con coinciding.
Among the exciting announcements pouring out of the event was an update on the highly anticipated Fantastic Four film starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, along with Paul Walter Hauser, Ralph Ineson, Julia Garner, Natasha Lyonne and John Malkovich.
The film has a new title, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and new details from the director, Matt Shakman, who said that the New York in the film will be "what you've seen from the 60s and something more" as per Discussing Film.
Along with this, some first-look footage was screened, which you can read more about in our every Marvel announcement made at 2024 San Diego Comic Con article.
Entertainment Weekly spoke with the cast of the upcoming film, where Ebon Moss-Bachrach revealed that he hadn't actually seen the early movie adaptations of Fantastic Four.
"When I got hired to do this, it didn't feel like that would be productive to watch those movies," Moss-Bachrach said. "People ask me about 'How is this different from those other ones?' and I don't think it's helpful to make something in opposition to something else."
He told Entertainment Weekly that, "We're really just making our own specific thing." Moss-Bachrach said, "This is no discredit to those movies. But we're telling our own very specific story. Like any great play, you can cast a play with four people, and then recast it with four different people, and it's the same play, but it's a completely different experience."
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is a year away from release and will hit theaters on July 25, 2025, and will head into production tomorrow.
