Ebon Moss-Bachrach Thanks His Parents for Taking 'Such Good Care' of His Cat in Heartfelt Speech at Emmys 2024

Bowen Yang, Lionel Boyce, Paul Rudd, Paul W. Downs and Tyler James Williams were also up for the honor

The most outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series has been named!

Bowen Yang, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce, Paul Rudd, Paul W. Downs and Tyler James Williams went head-to-head at the 2024 Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 15, with The Bear's Moss-Bachrach emerging as the victor.

In his speech, the 47-year-old thanked various individuals, expressed his appreciation for the FX on Hulu series, and also gave a special shout-out to his mom and dad.

"Thank you to my parents. They're taking such nice care of my cat," he said, also sending love to his two "sweet daughters."

This is Moss-Bachrach's second Emmy nomination and consecutive win for his role on The Bear.

The actor plays Richard "Richie" Jerimovich (nicknamed “Cousin”) on the dramedy that has become a huge hit. Last year, the Girls alum won his first-ever Emmy for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series.

He told The Guardian that the award was "one of the most joyful nights of my life," although he admitted that it also "stressed" him out.

" … Because then we go back to make season three and we’ve won a bunch of awards, you start to feel like, 'Oh, f---.' I mean, then you really don’t want to be discovered to be a fraud. And then there’s pressure," he explained.

This was Yang’s fourth Emmy nomination for his role on Saturday Night Live. He first joined the comedy sketch show in 2018 ahead of its 44th season, making him the first Chinese American cast member, and he quickly became a beloved part of the show.

"Lorne Michaels told me, 'The worst thing you can do is to think that you were destined to do this,'” Yang, 33, told PEOPLE in 2021. “And I was like, 'Yeah, that's true.' There's some humility that has to be constant.”

"And if I ever put pressure on myself to represent in any meaningful way for Asian people, then that would just get in my way in terms of thinking that I am destined to speak on behalf of multiple people," he added.

Yang has had several viral moments on SNL, including his Fran Lebowitz portrayal and the sketch where he dressed up as Elton John.

Sunday marks Boyce's first-ever Emmy nomination.

The 33-year-old actor earned the honor for portraying pastry chef Marcus Brooks in The Bear. When the show won the 2024 Golden Globe for Best Musical or Comedy Series, Boyce accepted the award.

"First of all, I want to thank [series creator] Chris [Storer] for bringing this incredible show alongside [executive producer] Joanna Calo and all of our great writers," he began. "[Josh] Senior, Tyson [Bidner], Cooper and every single production person in every department for being not only being great at what you do, but also just being people who don't suck."

"You know, we play these characters for a couple of hours a day for a couple of months out of the year,” he continued. “But this is y'all's reality, the highs and the lows. So thank you for embracing us while we tell the story."

With his first ever Emmy nomination, Rudd, 55, was recognized for playing big-time actor Ben Glenroy in Only Murders in the Building. He previously told PEOPLE that the most exciting part for him was getting to work with some of his favorite actors.

"I came in there, and there's Meryl Streep, who is arguably the greatest of all time," he recalled. "And Martin Short, who is one of the funniest people on the planet, and somebody that just, I love, I really love."

He added, "And yet to be there with Steve Martin, when I think back on people who probably had more of an impact on my life and my wanting to do this, or my understanding that performing or anything was even a career somebody would have, it was him."

Rudd also explained that Martin has been “the guy” in his life for so many years, crediting Martin for shaping him into the actor he is today.

"And so to, one, keep it kind of cool, and just not acknowledge it so that I can get through the day is one thing," he said. "But to also stop, acknowledge it and say, 'Wow, how lucky am I? Now I'm in this with him. That kind of thing doesn't really happen in life. And it's happened in my life."

Aside from starring as Jimmy LuSaque Jr. in the Max series Hacks, Downs, 41, also co-created the popular dramedy alongside Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky.

He is nominated for both supporting actor and in the category of outstanding writing for a comedy series, the latter of which he previously won in 2021.

Following the show's season finale in May, Downs' costar Megan Stalter, who plays Kayla Schaefer, told PEOPLE that "there were a couple of emotional scenes between me and Paul that felt so natural."

“All this emotion is there," the actress, 34, added at the time. "Not only do I know Kayla so well, but I know Jimmy so well, and I love him so much. It feels so rich this season, and it's so exciting to be able to play these characters.”

Williams was nominated for his role as teacher Gregory Eddie in Abbott Elementary, which he has told PEOPLE has been the “most important” part of his career so far.

Despite his success on Everybody Hates Chris, Go On, The Walking Dead and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, the 31-year-old actor revealed that he was most thankful for what Abbott has brought him.

“I handle [Gregory] with immense amounts of care. Immense. I always think about his emotional spectrum first,” Williams shared with PEOPLE in August. "I think that's part of it, is that I want to make sure that his strength is living in tandem with his emotionality, that it's not devoid of such.”

This was Williams’ third Emmy nomination, keeping him in the running for three consecutive years.
