Ebon Moss-Bachrach Wins Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy for ‘The Bear’
Ebon Moss-Bachrach is being toasted for his turn on “The Bear.”
The actor, whose other TV credits include “Girls,” won the Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy for his role on hit series “The Bear.”

Moss-Bachrach’s co-star Lionel Boyce was also nominated in the Supporting Actor category for “The Bear,” along with Paul W. Downs (“Hacks”), Paul Rudd (“Only Murders in the Building”), Tyler James Williams (“Abbott Elementary”), and Bowen Yang (“Saturday Night Live”).
This is Moss-Bacharach’s second Emmy; he previously won the 2023 award for the FX series. Moss-Bacharach plays Richie, the cousin to Jeremy Allen White’s lead character Carmy.
Moss-Bacharach told The Guardian that the show “invigorated” his love for acting.
“I’ve had so many beautiful interactions with people that have been really moved in a way that it sort of inspired me about the power of telling a story or the power of making a show or making a piece of art,” he said. “It’s really invigorated me and renewed my faith in my job.”
Yet as for the rise in culinary TV, Moss-Bacharach shrugged off the series’ impact.
“I don’t find ‘The Bear’ to be like food porn or anything,” Moss-Bacharach said. “I thought a lot of the food looked pretty nasty the first season, to be honest. I put more of that stuff on TikTok and ‘Chef’s Table.’ I point my fingers at them.”
He previously told GQ UK that he tries to select only roles that speak to him.
“Now I get more things sent to me, and I have more of a chance to choose parts I want, but I always felt good about what I was doing and the place I was at. I’m good at being in the moment,” he said. “The moment is all we have.”
As for where his arc could go for the series, Moss-Bacharach added, “When the job is done, I’ll mourn the loss of working with the people I work with, in this very sort of ideal, beautiful work environment. I hope I’m not taking Richie on a tour, like hitting Branson, Missouri, on the ‘Bear’ Bus Experience.”
His co-star Oliver Platt, who plays Moss-Bacharach’s onscreen uncle, applauded his performance in Season 2.
“Richie starts out so damn crusty when we first see him [in ‘Forks’],” Platt said. “He’s feeling slighted and underappreciated and very What the fuck am I doing here, but then he ends up being the man. He runs down the street to get a family the deep dish pizza because he’s listening and he’s growing. I’ve thought a lot about the arc of the character, and Richie’s story is like a novel. He’s the biggest, crustiest naysayer who has no purpose in life, he’s telling [Jeremy Allen-White’s] Carm, This is my house, get out of my house, but then goes from that to – organically – to earn it. And let’s face it: Most of it happens in that episode.”
The actor will soon make his Marvel debut with “The Fantastic Four” alongside Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Joseph Quinn. Moss-Bachrach will play Ben Grimm AKA The Thing. He also stars in 1930s-set thriller “Hold Your Breath” with Sarah Paulson.
