Ed O’Neill jokes he really misses ‘Modern Family’ paycheck as cast reunites at SAG Awards 2024
The Dunphys and Pritchetts reunited at the 2024 SAG Awards.
The cast of “Modern Family,” including Sofía Vergara, Julie Bowen, 53, Ty Burrell, 56, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, 48, Eric Stonestreet, 52, and Ed O’Neill, 77, surprised viewers Saturday by gathering together to present the Best Ensemble in a Comedy award.
Bowen spoke first, reminding the star-studded audience about their ABC show’s 11 seasons and 250 episodes that came to an end in 2020. The cast one five SAG Awards and also earned 22 Emmys.
Still, Vergara shifted the conversation to her new Netflix show, “Griselda.”
“Hey Jesse, pay up,” Stonestreet told Ferguson. “I told you she would mention it in the first 10 seconds.”
Bringing it back to “Modern Family,” O’Neill said: “I didn’t want to get emotional up here, but you know what I miss about it most of all?”
“Going to work every day?” Burrell replied.
“No money,” O’Neill bluntly joked.
Talking about their lackluster lives after the sitcom ended, Ferguson asked, “Is it too early to talk about a reboot? They made me park a mile away from here.”
Stonestreet, a Kansas City Chiefs native and die-hard Chiefs fan, interjected: “I know Travis Kelce!”
“I can FaceTime him right now. I’m being serious, so things are really great for me,” he sarcastically added about his access to Taylor Swift’s boyfriend.
The “Modern Family” cast, including Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould, Rico Rodriguez, Eric and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, and even co-creators Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd also reunited for a private dinner party in November.
“Modern Family” wasn’t the only beloved cast to reunite at the SAGs. The “Devil Wears Prada” co-stars Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway all got back together onstage too.
