Elizabeth Olsen Was Asked What She Tells Actors Wondering What They're Getting Themselves Into By Joining The MCU, And Her Response Was Really Powerful

These days, Elizabeth Olsen is well known for her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since 2014, she’s played Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch.
Her first appearance was an uncredited role in the 2014 film Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
In total, she’s appeared (or voiced Wanda) in six MCU films and her critically acclaimed 2021 miniseries Wandavision.
Elizabeth was a major component in Marvel’s Phase Four era, which roughly chronicled MCU films and TV series from 2021 and 2022. Her future with the franchise is a bit up in the air.
While Elizabeth has moved on to her first major non-MCU project this year with the Max miniseries Love & Death, there was also a time before Marvel — a time when she was better known as an indie film actor.
Elizabeth got her big break in 2011 with the indie thriller Martha Marcy May Marlene. She followed it up with films like Silent House, Liberal Arts, and Kill Your Darlings before joining the MCU.
It's definitely a major transition, going from an indie actor to a big-budget superhero. It can even be considered controversial, as Florence Pugh recently divulged regarding her own decision to enter into the MCU.

But it doesn’t seem that Elizabeth has any regrets about joining the MCU. In fact, she recently opened up in an interview about what she tells other actors who are considering joining the juggernaut film franchise.

On Thursday, Elizabeth appeared on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, and Josh asked her what she tells actors who are wondering, “What am I getting myself into?”
Elizabeth’s answer was so honest and direct.

“That way, you have more control over — let’s say you’re like, 'Oh my god, this was the most fun I’ve ever had, and I love this character so much, I want to do it again.' You now have more creative control for the next one."

Honestly, that’s fantastic advice, not just for actors but for life in general. Not sure if you should go on that blind date? Just give them one (try). Not sure if you should reach out to an old pal after all these years? Just give them one (friendly text).
