Ellen DeGeneres' Reaction to Jennifer Lopez's Engagement Is Hilariously Perfect
Over the weekend, The Ellen DeGeneres Show host’s dream came true when J. Lo and A-Rod announced they were finally engaged after two years together. As you can imagine, Ellen DeGeneres’ reaction to Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s engagement will definitely make you laugh, just like we did.
For those unaware, on March 9, Lopez and Rodriguez revealed they are going to get married by posting the same image on Instagram featuring their two hands and showing off the World of Dance judge’s massive diamond ring. Next to Rodriguez’s photo, he wrote, “She said yes.” As for Lopez’s picture, which you can see below, she captioned it with a bunch of hearts.

However, the singer didn’t stop there. As pointed out by the Comments by Celebs Instagram account, Lopez also tagged DeGeneres in her Instagram picture. How did the comedian respond? Oh, you know, by offering to be in the wedding. DeGeneres hilariously commented, “Yes. I will be your Maid of Honor.” That response is just so DeGeneres, right?
If you’ve been paying attention to every time Lopez has appeared on DeGeneres’ talk show since she started dating the former New York Yankees player in 2017, then you know how much the daytime talk show host has wanted the two to tie the knot. No joke, she would ask the Second Act star every single time when Lopez and Rodriguez were going to get engaged. Each time, Lopez would play it off and explain that the couple were happy as is and not rushing into anything.
Like J. Lo told Good Morning America in June 2018, “We have to take our time. I’ve made plenty of mistakes in my past and … we’re mature now. We’re grown ups and we’re going to take our time and we’re going to do things at our own pace. And our life right now is incredibly wonderful. Between our kids and our work we’re truly blessed. We don’t need anything more right now.”
Well, they definitely and understandably took their time, because they are now making their relationship even more official two years later.
There’s no denying DeGeneres’ engagements hopes for the couple were fulfilled. And the fact that Lopez tagged DeGeneres in her announcement photo is also beyond funny. It seems to be her way of telling her friend that she can finally stop asking when Lopez is getting engaged to Rodriguez. Props to the former Shades of Blue actor for tagging DeGeneres. She really deserves a round of applause for that move.
From this point on, and the next time Lopez appears on the talk show, DeGeneres can start quizzing the superstar about wedding plans. You know she’s going to have a lot of questions for Lopez, including if she can be her maid of honor.
