Ellen DeGeneres says she's "feeling 100 percent" days after she announced her COVID-19 diagnosis.
In a video uploaded to her social media on Wednesday, the talk show host updated her fans on her condition.
"Hi everybody, just saying thank you to all the well wishes out there, I appreciate it very much. I'm feeling 100 percent, I feel really good," DeGeneres said while speaking from her home.
"One thing that they don't tell you is you get, somehow, excruciating back pain. Didn't know that was a symptom but I talked to some other people — back pain. Who knew? how come?" DeGeneres continued.
Still, she felt well enough to beat her wife Portia de Rossi, who was filming the video, in a game of Connect 4. "You just let me win," she joked.
DeGeneres first announced her diagnosis on The Ellen DeGeneres Show's Twitter account Thursday.
"Hi Everyone," DeGeneres wrote. "I want to let you all know that I tested positive for Covid-19. Fortunately, I'm feeling fine right now. Anyone who has been in close contact with me has been notified, and I am following all proper CDC guidelines. I'll see you all again after the holidays. Please stay healthy and safe."
In a statement, a spokesperson for studio Telepictures said the company has paused production on the show until January.
The announcement comes on the heels of a Buzzfeed report that The Ellen DeGeneres Show has been losing advertising, celebrity booking, and slipping in the ratings following allegations from employees that DeGeneres and top executive producers fostered a toxic workplace.
“In a typical year, ‘12 Days of Giveaways’ is huge," an employee told the outlet. "We’ve basically claimed Christmas on daytime TV ... Everyone wants to be in the audience. Everyone wants the gifts. And so we line up all these crazy sponsors, and people love it. But this year, our ‘12 Days’ is more condensed. We don’t have as many sponsors. This feels like our make-it-or-break-it moment. This will be our biggest report card..." and "For the first time ... you have an idea for a celeb, even if they’re not A-list or famous, we’ll take anyone who will bring us numbers and eyeballs."
