When asked at the premiere pink carpet why Gabriel was the right choice for Emily at Episode 3’s masquerade ball, Lucas Bravo hedged a bit before revealing his reaction.
“I was happy that he was when I read it because it was a really fun scene to shoot,” Bravo told Deadline. “I hope we created something worth people’s expectations, fan’s expectations. When we’re in character we really love what we’re creating with them two — Gabriel and Emily.”
Bravo echoed co-star Lily Collins’ emphasis on more maturity and vulnerability this season.

“We really wanted this season to raise the bar and make it even more passionate and urgent, and I hope we did a good job,” Bravo continued. “It really felt like this season, we stepped it up in terms of their relationship.”

While Gabriel has a lot to wrap his head around after the end of last season, Bravo enjoyed his character’s headspace this newest installment.
“It was nice for me to get back into cheeky Gabriel, playful Gabriel because I feel like for the past two seasons, he was just sad and melancholic and running after Emily,” he said. “I feel like I was reconnecting with Gabriel from Season 1 who wants to play, that is a little cheekier. He’s more proactive, he’s taking his life into his own hands, chasing after his stars, his dreams, and the woman he loves. It’s a more confident and mature season.”
Lucien Laviscount weighed in on the “emotional rollercoaster” that awaits Alfie this season.
“Alfie being able to show his vulnerable side shows his growth and his determination to figure it out,” Laviscount told Deadline. “His selflessness definitely comes through. He’s trying to do what he thinks is right for Emily, but then at the same time shoots himself in the foot a little bit and by the time it gets to that point, is it too late? Isn’t it too late? True love takes time and we’ve got to figure things out before we get there, so we’ll see if the timing’s right.”

Laviscount also shared the side of Emily that Alfie brings out versus other love interests.
“She can be carefree. There’s no games with Alfie, she can just live in her power and live in her strength and just be a little bit more herself, a little bit crazier than she is in other relationships,” he said.
Darren Star confirmed to Deadline that Alfie will be back in part 2 of season 4. Part 2 of Emily in Paris arrives September 12.
