Emmys: ‘The Daily Show’ Wins Best Talk Series for Second Straight Year
The Daily Show was named best talk series at the 2024 Emmys on Sunday, winning the category for the second year in a row.
The 2023 Emmys saw The Daily Show win for the final season of Trevor Noah’s tenure as host — and the first time since Jon Stewart left as full-time host in 2015. Stewart is now back as a part-time host of the Comedy Central staple; his prior show, The Problem With Jon Stewart on Apple TV+, was nominated last year as well.

“To have the opportunity to work with this incredibly talented group … once a week, it’s really made my Mondays,” Stewart said in accepting the speech. He also gave props to his fellow hosts Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta, Desi Lydic and Jordan Klepper (“they just kick ass”) and showrunner Jen Flanz, who has been with The Daily Show since 1998 and an executive producer for the past 15 years.
“I love our show and the people we work with, and I love working in television,” Flanz said.
The Daily Show had a lock on the variety category for much of Stewart’s first run as host, winning the award for best variety, music or comedy series (a predecessor to the current category) in 11 of 13 years from 2003-15. It has two Emmys this year, bringing its all-time total to 28.
The other nominees for best talk series were Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night With Seth Meyers and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. The last time a broadcast show won the award for this category (or its antecedents) was in 2002.
The 76th annual Emmy Awards, co-hosted by father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy, were broadcast live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. See all the red carpet arrivals.
