Four years after Schitt’s Creek’s series finale, the show’s Rosebuds — father Eugene and son Dan Levy — will reunite on screen as hosts for ABC’s airing of the primetime Emmys at 8 p.m. on Sept. 15. The ceremony will take place at the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live.

The Levys are no strangers to the Emmys since Schitt’s Creek, which they created together, won nine Emmys in 2020, including Outstanding Comedy Series and acting trophies for both of them. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the show won in every major comedy category that year, a royal flush.

Eugene is nominated this year for his Apple TV+ series, The Reluctant Traveler. Dan’s post-Schitt’s endeavors have included the cooking competition The Big Brunch and the Netflix movie, Good Grief, which he wrote, directed, and starred in.

Among various surprises and snubs, The Bear and Shōgun are the 2024 Emmys’ most-nominated series. True Detective: Night Country led the nominations in the limited series category.

This year’s Emmys are taking place nine months after the 2023 trophy toss since the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes delayed it. That ceremony aired on Fox, and Anthony Anderson hosted it. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the most obvious choice for the 2024 ceremony’s host would be Jimmy Kimmel since he’s associated with both Disney and ABC, but that he declined the opportunity in addition to begging off next year’s Oscars.

“Jimmy is always our first ask,” Dana Walden, co-chair of Disney Entertainment, told The Hollywood Reporter last month. “He’s always our first choice in terms of partners. He represents our company so well, and he’s done such remarkable work… but hosting a daily show is a lot of work.”
