‘Euphoria’ Season 3 will begin production in January, HBO boss says
“Euphoria” is on schedule to start production in January for an eight-episode third season, according to HBO and Max boss Casey Bloys.
“We are shooting ‘Euphoria,'” the HBO and Max chairman and CEO told reporters on Tuesday at a press event, per our sister site Variety. “I think we have a start date, mid to late January. Nothing’s changed. Somebody said something online, and then this whole thing started. We are shooting the season. I have read the scripts. We’re happy. We’re moving ahead [with] all of the actors.”

Bloys was referring to reports last week that claimed the Sam Levinson drama was canceled after star and executive producer Zendaya joined Christopher Nolan‘s new film. The Nolan picture is scheduled to begin shooting early next year before Zendaya films the fourth “Spider-Man” movie. Other “Euphoria” stars, including Jacob Elordi and Sydney Sweeney, also have projects on their 2025 slates. HBO promptly shut down the reports Friday, saying that “Euphoria” will go into production in 2025. The network had previously earmarked January as a start date for Season 3.
After its second season aired in early 2022, which won Zendaya her second Best Drama Actress Emmy, “Euphoria” has faced delays caused by the writers’ and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the death of star Angus Cloud in July 2023, the death of executive producer Kevin Turen last November, and Levinson revamping scripts.
In October, Zendaya confirmed to Entertainment Weekly‘s “The Awardist” podcast that there will be a time jump in Season 3. “It’s important because there’s only so much high school drama you can deal with,” she said, before quipping of her character Rue, “and then she cheats on her boyfriend again!'”
“It will be fascinating to see and understand these characters outside of the context of high school and how all the stuff that we saw when they were kids and they were in high school affects the adulthood they have and who they become in a much bigger world,” she continued. “I’ll be interested to see what happens too.”
