Euphoria to Start Filming Season 3 in Early 2025 — Find Out When (and Who’s Coming Back)
HBO’s Euphoria is slated to start production on Season 3 in January 2025, TVLine has learned, nearly three years since the teen drama’s Season 2 finale aired.
We can also report that members of the show’s principal cast — which includes Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Maude Apatow and Alexa Demie — will return for the new season, which seems to confirm HBO CEO and chairman Casey Bloys’ comments in June about the “core cast” returning.

“I am thrilled that we are ready to begin production on Euphoria in January,” Francesca Orsi, EVP of HBO programming and head of HBO drama series and films, said via statement. “We could not be happier with our creative partnership with Sam [Levinson, series creator] and this incredible cast. We look forward to bringing this new season of Euphoria to life for the fans.”
Euphoria was renewed for Season 3 in February 2022, just ahead of its Season 2 finale. The time that followed, though, was studded with controversy and tragedy for the series. In March, HBO refuted a report that alleged that on-set conditions were toxic and/or unsafe. In August, series regular Barbie Ferreira announced her departure via Instagram. Then, in 2023, cast member Dominic Fike said he’d nearly lost his job because he’d been high on drugs while filming several Season 2 scenes. And in July of that year, Angus Cloud, who played the soft-spoken Fezco, died at age 25.
There’s no word yet on whether the new season will find the show making a major time jump, a possibility Bloys hinted at earlier this year.
“One of the issues I think that Sam is thinking about is that he doesn’t want to have it in high school anymore,” the HBO exec said. “That’s where it was set and what made sense then. So when you take it out of that, there’s a lot of back and forth about where to set it and how far in the future to set it and all that stuff. But I think he’s got a take that he’s excited about, and he’s busy writing.”
Euphoria: 10 Things We’d Really Love to See Happen in Season 3
Levinson himself alluded to a major Season 3 change when he was quoted in a September 2023 Elle profile of Zendaya. The EP shared that he sees the HBO drama’s subsequent chapter as a film noir that will “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world,” all told through Rue’s perspective.
Viewers will recall that Season 2 ended with Rue getting clean, Cassie and Nate breaking up, Nate having his father arrested, Fez getting shot during a police standoff that ended with the death of Ash, and the culmination of Lexi’s absolutely bonkers play. (Read a full finale recap.)
Euphoria Season 3 does not yet have a premiere date. In November 2023, Bloys said that the series would return at some point in 2025.
