Eva Mendes fires back at follower who said she's 'getting old': 'Thank you for the reminder that I'm still here'
Don’t mess with Eva Mendes. The actress-and-clothing designer, 45, didn’t hesitate to clap back at an Instagram commenter who made a rude comment about her age.
On Saturday, Mendes shared an Instagram video post in which she playfully holds a handband in her mouth before putting it on. “Back to work. Design meeting...” she wrote, tagging the pants and blazer she wore from her collection with New York & Company.
"Sending you all some extra love right now and always,” Mendes, who turns 46 in March, added. “Thank you for always sending me so much positivity and love through your comments. I read most of them when I can and it makes me so happy that there's so much love around. I send it all right back. Ten fold."
But one commenter decided to be rude. “She’s getting old,” the person wrote below the video.
"Yes [you’re] right. Thank God I'm getting old. That means I'm still here. I'm gonna be 46 soon and grateful everyday that I'm aging,” Mendes replied. “Was your comment suppose to make me feel bad? It didn't. It makes me feel grateful. So thank you for the reminder that I'm still here."
Mendes, who shares daughters Esmerelda, 5, and Amada, 3, with Ryan Gosling, has challenged Instagram trolls before. Last month, she excitedly shared an Instagram video of herself twirling in another dress from her collection, only to have a commenter say it was “ugly.”
"Don’t like these designs you need a better Designer you [too] pretty for these ugly patterns,” the commenter wrote.
Despite the “ugly” comment, Mendes responded to the commenter with nothing but kindness.
"I’m so sorry you don’t like this one. It happens to be my favorite piece of my new collection. But I’m sure there’s other stuff you may like. If not @katehudson and @gabunion design some great things,” Mendes wrote, pointing to fellow celebrity designers Kate Hudson and Gabrielle Union. “So there may be something for you there. Sending love for 2020."
