Facebook: 'Walking Dead' game offers zombie killing galore
AMC and RockYou are teaming up for an interactive Facebook game based on the TV series The Walking Dead, according to a joint press release. The story-based game “allows players to have their own, unique adventures with opportunities to encounter show characters at key moments suggested by the show’s rich narrative. The goal of the game is to survive the apocalypse by fighting walkers (zombies) to keep yourself and your fellow survivors alive, while scavenging resources and establishing camps on settings from the show.”
If you’re eager to whack some walkers, you can preview the game on its Facebook page, but if you’re patient, the game officially launches in April, and you can get your rage out then. (And as far as the title, at least it’s better than Walking Dead with Friends.)
“AMC’s The Walking Dead Social Game is a next generation game for social networks,” said Stephen Griffin, CEO of Eyes Wide Games, which is developing the game with AMC and RockYou. “It’s got deep playability. It’s got drama, and it’s still approachable for the casual audience. However, if you’re a gamer and you’ve been looking for a deeper game to play and to experience on social networks then this is it.”
Fun fact: Eyes Wide Games is also responsible for Storage Wars: The Game and CSI: Crime City. So I pose the question, PopWatchers: What other television shows would you like to see get the social media treatment?
