Fans cheer Chris Evans after he calls Trump's tweets about congresswomen 'racist'
Chris Evans, Captain America himself, didn’t mince words in his reaction to President Trump’s tweet telling several Democratic congresswomen of color to “go back” to where they came from, even though three of the four were born in America and all four are citizens.
“This is racist, Biff,” Evans said, in an apparent reference to the bully in the Back to the Future movies. “The only thing worse than actually being hateful and racist, is casually wielding hate and racism to activate your base in an unrelenting, painfully transparent, and crushingly on-brand effort to soothe your only true devotion: feeding your insatiable ego.”

Evans’s fans backed him up with Captain America memes. Some of them even called for him — both as his character and as himself — to run for president. They said he was “actually making America great again,” a play on the slogan Trump uses at his rallies, “Make America Great Again.”

Evans, a frequent Trump critic, was far from the only one to speak out against Trump’s words.
Top Chef star Padma Lakshmi, who was born in India, said one of the phrases that he used, “Go back to your country,” is one that she receives in her direct messages. She said immigrant children hear taunts like Trump’s on the playground.
“Go back to your country” is a taunt immigrant kids hear on the playground, it’s a threat I get from unhinged people in my DMs, and it’s also something the President of the United States says to strong women of color who oppose him.

It’s rooted in centuries of ignorance, violence and white supremacy. This man does not represent us. And in 2020 we will vote him the f**k out.

House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Monday that there would be an upcoming resolution to officially condemn the president’s words.
Meanwhile, Trump called for the lawmakers he criticized to apologize to him.
