Fans are jumping to Demi Moore's defense after the actress was accused of acting insensitively toward her ex Bruce Willis' declining health, from whom she's been divorced for over two decades.
The 61-year-old was told to "tone it down" after a new social media post showed off one of her most recent fashion looks, suggesting she wasn't behaving appropriately amid the Die Hard alum's battle with frontotemporal dementia.
The video in question was uploaded to Instagram by Brad Goreski, a celebrity stylist who also serves as a judge on Canada’s Drag Race. In it, Moore showed off her sleek, monochromatic Tom Ford suit, made in a pale yellow satiny fabric. She carried her tiny dog Pilaf as her main accessory, spinning for the camera and adjusting her collar with one hand as the pup sat comfortably in the other before treating the hallway like her catwalk, giving a final spin and smiling at the videographer.
But while most fans were delighted by the latest look, with one going so far as to exclaim, "this is truly wowowowowow," one commenter wrote a scathing criticism: "Don’t you think Demi needs to tone it down when the father of her kids is suffering from a serious deteriorating illness while she is showing how great her surgeon made her look ??? Just wondering ??."
Fans were quick to go to bat for Moore, who shares three adult daughters with Willis.
One dubbed the opinion the "dumbest thing" they've "ever read," while another bluntly disagreed: "no we don't."
Others pointed out that "women...have lives outside of men," even if they were still married. "You want her to suffer more?"
Another asked, "Why should she not live cause of her EX illness?" while someone else stated, "her life isn’t over because her ex husband is ill."
"It’s not her mission to heal him," another comment read. "Bye ??."
Willis' diagnosis was made public in February 2023, with his family offering rare updates ever since. His wife, Emma Heming Willis has been his champion throughout, affirming that "there is grief and sadness" in their "new chapter," but that it's also "filled with love, it's filled with connection, it's filled with joy, it's filled with happiness."
His oldest daughter, Rumer, has also shared sweet glimpses of joy with her dad, including him cuddling his first and only grandbaby, while his youngest daughter with Moore, Tallulah, stepped out with her stepmother to honor him on the 30th anniversary of Pulp Fiction.
